Site Engineering
Detailed site design plans for construction. These plans take into consideration existing; topography, soil conditions, wetlands, flood plains, structures and utilities as well as future structures, parking lots, storm water management and utilities. These plans are coordinated with the local municipality, and appropriate State and/or Federal agencies. There are many ways to design a specific site. Our Engineers not only design a site, they explore design options and discuss them with the owner to insure the design is as economically feasible, functional, environmentally and aesthetically pleasing as possible.
Site engineering is needed for the following applications:
- New Commercial buildings
- Additions to existing structures or parking lots
- New Subdivisions
- Open pit mining, such as clay, sand, rock and minerals
- Parks, ball diamonds, soccer fields, stadiums
- Railroads and spur tracts
- Roads and Highways
- Storm water management
- Any land disturbing activities over 1 acre (except farming).
Storm Water Management
Most land disturbing activities for 1/2 ac or more, require some means of Storm water management. Quantity and quality must both be addressed in the design of storm water facilities. There are numerous options that can be explored for each site but existing soil and site conditions can limit these options.
Erosion Control Plan
These plans are required with any land disturbing activity that may discharge surface water onto any street adjoining property or environmentally sensitive area. Once a site has been disturbed of its natural vegetation it is susceptible to erosion from heavy rains. These plans provide guidance to implement the proper erosion control methods for optimal erosion reduction. Usually required by local and state agencies before construction or land altering activities are allowed to start.
Flood Studies
Flood studies determine the areas at risk of flooding during a specific storm event. Flood Plains and Floodways are determined based potential flooding during a specific storm event. Flood Plains and Floodways are determined to minimize the potential for flooding. These plans are reviewed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Permitting
Permit submittals to Federal, State, County and Municipal agencies are necessary for most all construction land disturbing activities. Many of these should be exploded early to determine feasibility of the proposed project.
Construction Management
Inspection and tracking of a project design to ensure the construction is in compliance with the design plans. This also includes tracking pay requests from the contractors; budget and schedule management and troubleshooting design changes if problems arise.
Construction Cost Estimate
An estimate of a projects cost is essential in determining any projects feasibility. An overall project estimate can be provided at a conceptual stage with a more detailed breakdown of specific items after preliminary design. Actual costs will be determined after the project bidding.
As-Built Survey
This service allows us to insure and document that the site was constructed to the design plans and meets all local, state, federal regulations and permitting requirements needed to complete the construction process. This is a requirement of most municipalities.
